Street Children Rehabilitation

Street Children Rehabilitation Centre

Every child deserves to live in a protective environment where they can learn, laugh, play and thrive in their childhood stages. However only 1 in 5 children in Uganda fully enjoy these rights.  This is shocking and undesirable.

Mission for All (MIFA) started Ebenezer Children’s Rehabilitation Centre to change this situation. The centre follows where GOD leads, to address child vulnerability in forms such as abandonment, violence, hunger, disease, sexual abuse and street life.The Centre provides a safe, loving and structured home for girls and boys rescued from risky environments.

At the Centre, the child receives care, guidance, hope and emotional support as they heal and are prepared for reintegration into family life. Education is a key part of the rehabilitation process to help the child acquire knowledge and skills for a better future.

The rehabilitation process is guided by four principles;

  1. Rescue a child from the dangers of the unsafe life.
  2. Rehabilitate the child in a safe and nurturing environment
  3. Reconcile the child with identified relatives or caregivers
  4. Re-unite the child with their family for long term stability

Since establishment in 2001, Ebenezer Children’s Rehabilitation Centre has rescued and supported closed to 500 former street involved children and witnessed the joy re-establishing long lost family bonds, many have completed formal education or gained skills and are now gainfully employed, self-reliant and contributing positively to their community.
