Over time MIFA started to address specific needs affecting vulnerable children especially the need for their education. In addition, the majority of the guardians of the MIFA sponsored children were widows with social, economic and spiritual needs. Most of these guardians had been widowed as a result of civil conflicts in Uganda and the HIV/AIDS scourge in the 1980s.
